Commencement Ceremonies

Commencement at Edgewood College is a symbolic ceremony provided for students, faculty, and families in celebration of our students’ accomplishment.

Ceremony Eligibility

Anticipated Spring graduates are eligible to participate in the May commencement ceremony; anticipated Winter graduates are eligible to participate in the December commencement ceremony. August degree candidates are invited to participate in either the May or December ceremony during the year in which they graduate (with the exception of Accelerated Post-Baccalaureate Nursing students who may only participate after their degree has been earned).

A student may only participate in one commencement ceremony for each degree awarded. Any students seeking an exception to the above commencement ceremony participation policy must be submitted in writing to These cases are reviewed by the Registrar in conjunction with the Academic Dean’s Office.

Edgewood College does not use honors cords in commencement ceremonies. Latin Honors, if awarded, will be recognized in the commencement program and ceremony. Latin honors for commencement are based on the last grading cycle in which the student was enrolled. Honors will be updated after final grades are submitted and will appear on the official transcript and diploma.

Please note:

The commencement ceremony date is not the same as the date the degree is earned. Edgewood College awards degrees and posts them to student transcripts three times each year - January 10, May 25, and August 25.
